“The first fact about a celebration, is that it is a way of affirming defiantly, and even flamboyantly, that it is a good thing to be alive.” - - G. K. Chesterton
Blessing of Marriages
The foundation of every successful marriage is built upon The Promise. Made before God, family and friends, 50 years ago we vowed to “love, honor, comfort and keep, in sickness and in health, and, forsaking all others, keep only unto (each other), so long as ye both shall live."
In retrospect, for such young people as we were then, these were truly remarkable commitments. They could not have been kept this long without the continued presence of the Silent Partner in all marriages, the One in whose Name those vows were made.
The reward for keeping our Promises has been a growing and deepening Love. Love is a Grace bestowed upon us, the signature of His Presence. The Love we have been bequeathed is also an insight into the reward that awaits all who keep His Faith.
This evening we want to formally recognize His Constant Presence in our marriage and ask for His continued blessing going forward.
We invite all married couples who also wish to receive His continued blessing to stand with us.
